The Appeal of Motor Yacht with the Advantages of a Catamaran

Pioneering the powercat market since 2002, Leopard Catamarans is ushering in its fourth generation of power catamaran with the introduction of the new Leopard 53 PC for the Leopard private customers and for the Moorings Power Yacht fleet. She is succeeding the most
successful powercat of all time (the Leopard 51 PC with over 137 units sold) and will splash in Cape Town in Fall 2019.

With the space, stability, and efficiency offered in a catamaran combined with the comfort and luxury of a motor yacht, she is crafted with style without compromising on performance.

“The Leopard 53 Powercat is not just a replacement of the previous model, but an evolutionary change in the Leopard powercat range,” explains Franck Bauguil, Vice President of Yacht Sales & Product Development. “This completely new boat is designed to please the existing Leopard owners and Leopard fans, but also to appeal to the more traditional motor yacht market with a modern, re-imagined interior that offers the comforts of home as well as plenty of outdoor entertaining space. Combining this with the smart and economical advantages of catamaran design, she is easy to maintain and operate, and is up to 50% more fuel efficient than her monohull motoryacht counterparts. The Leopard 53 Powercat is the best of both worlds.”

The design maintains the hulls’ narrow entry at the bows with big-volume stepped hulls above the waterline resulting in incredible space down below as well as unmatched range at cruising speed. With a maximum range of 2000 miles, no other type of motor yacht can compete. She reaches a maximum speed of 28 mph (25 knots) with a cruising speed of 20 mph (17.5 knots).

The heart of the Leopard 53 Powercat is the flybridge, covered by a fixed solid hardtop with the helm station to starboard. The spacious seating provides panoramic views and the perfect place to entertain. Downstairs you will find a large aft cockpit that features a table and walk-around seating.

On the main level, large, retractable sliding glass doors leading from the aft cockpit to the galley fuse indoor/outdoor entertainment. The saloon offers an L-shaped lounge to port and a two-person settee to starboard. Cruising pleasure is amplified with the option to add an interior navigation station. The flow is seamless with access to the foredeck through the forward saloon door.

Offered in a three or four cabin layout, with the option for separate crew cabins. The three-cabin owner’s version provided an at-home feel with a large, walk around bed, a walk-in closet and a double vanity.

The new Leopard 53 Powercat will debut in Miami, February 2020.
