Designed by a team of passionate sailors, this catamaran is the fruit of a long reflection on the pleasure of sailing, the pleasure of living aboard, and the pleasure of enjoying the playground that extends around the boat.
This new model retains all the DNA of the range, created with VPLP team and Patrick Le Quément aboard the first generation of Excess catamarans. With the architectural expertise of Marc Lombard YDG, the Excess Design Team is continuing and strengthening the development of the innovative and dynamic second generation of Excess catamarans.
The design of the Excess 13 picks up on the codes of our previous models. Externally, the Excess teams have retained the lines of the hull and the shape of the windows and have worked around this base to present a new model in keeping with the DNA of our brand. For the interior design, Jean-Marc Piaton began with interviews to identify, understand and get into the spirit of the brand and give it substance.
The Less is more philosophy inspired the design of the Excess 13. The aim is to offer greater functionality and comfort on board, while limiting any negative impacts as well as the amount of materials used. This approach is in line with boater’ aspirations for greater simplicity and moderation. The result is lighter, yet sturdier boats that guarantee great sailing sensations.
The Excess 13 is a cruising catamaran, a true sailboat capable of ocean passage-making. The very direct helm allows you to feel the connection with the sea and fine-tune everything. Sensations are increased exponentially. The forward-facing chart table keeps you in touch with the elements and allows you to navigate with pinpoint accuracy.
Like its predecessor, the Excess 13 uses the principle of asymmetrical hulls. These are finer in beam below the waterline, guaranteeing excellent performance and easy gliding through the water, all while maintaining living space. The real innovations concern the structure, where all the designers’ creativity has been devoted to lightening the boat’s weight. The result is invisible, but you can feel it.
The interior of this new model is bathed in natural light. Its fully equipped galley, as easily accessible from the cockpit as it is from the saloon, acts as a link between interior and exterior spaces.
The hull dedicated to owners combines a spacious cabin with a large forward heads compartment and, a rare feature on a boat of this size, a large closet. It also features an ergonomically designed desk area with natural light for the boat office. Complementing the chart table, it offers a second workspace, allowing you to reconcile your professional life with your passion for the sea as never before. In the opposite hull, guests enjoy two cabins and two private bathrooms.
Enjoy significant living volumes, vast stowage space, robust its structure and the position of its bulkheads, creating excellent habitability with ample headroom, all without compromising the boat’s performance.
At anchor, it becomes an ideal platform for all nautical activities and the most daring challenges. The monohull-inspired access to the sea via fold-down sugarscoops combines safety and efficiency.
Impressive, innovative exterior storage volumes allow you to carry a wide range of equipment for every adventure: diving and snorkelling for fans of the depths; wing-foiling or kitesurfing for adventurous watersports.
