The event has drawn an enthusiastic crowd of White Pointer boat owners and fans, all eager to take part in the festivities and celebrate the brand’s enduring legacy.

The competition was not only a showcase of skill and sportsmanship but also an opportunity for White Pointer to display its ongoing innovation. Earlier in the first day, the company demonstrated a significant upgrade on one of its boats, swapping out three 250-horsepower outboard engines in favour of two 350-horsepower units, highlighting its commitment to continuous improvement and performance.
The competition has already seen some excellent catches, with several large tuna landed, including 43.8kg, 37kg, and 27.4kg specimens. Among those participating are the team from BoatDek, with team member Jaz experiencing his first-ever game fishing mission—one that proved successful when he reeled in a respectable albacore tuna. Honda Marine New Zealand are also present, with team members enjoying a fruitful day on the water, landing several big catches.

Participants are enjoying ideal conditions, and spirits were high, with a special hoahoa evident among the anglers and White Pointer enthusiasts, making for a fitting tribute to the brand’s 30-year journey.

The roots of White Pointer Boats trace back three decades to founder Rex Briant. With a deep passion for the ocean and a vision to build boats that could master New Zealand’s demanding waters, Rex and his team set out to design vessels that combined durability, performance, and comfort. Their goal was not just to create another boat but to redefine what a fishing and adventure vessel could be.

In the mid-1990s, after extensive research, testing, and fine-tuning, the first White Pointer boat was launched. Featuring cutting-edge hull design, superior materials, and expert craftsmanship, it quickly gained a reputation for excelling in rough conditions. The brand became synonymous with reliability, safety, and exceptional performance—qualities that appealed to serious anglers and adventure seekers alike.
White Pointer Boats has continued to evolve while staying true to its founding principles. Earlier this year, the company unveiled its special 30th Anniversary model—the 745 Sports Cruiser 30th Edition. This latest model embodies the brand’s legacy of innovation, combining modern advancements with the rugged reliability White Pointer is known for.

As the 30th Anniversary Fishing Competition wraps up, it was clear that White Pointer Boats had not only built exceptional vessels over the years but had also cultivated a strong and loyal community. With a legacy spanning three decades and a commitment to pushing boundaries, the future continues to look bright for White Pointer and the passionate anglers who trust their boats to take them on new adventures.
