ELAN RECRUITS DREAM TEAM
IN AN AS-YET UN-NAMED PROJECT, Elan Yachts has joined forces with Pininfarina, Humphreys Yacht Design and Gurit to produce the ultimate performance cruising yacht. The project aims to combine the best in shipbuilding technology, naval architecture, and industrial design.
Elan will rely on its 75-year boat-building heritage for the creation of this new yacht, as well as a team of ‘best-in-business’ specialists to push the envelope in every aspect.
Both the exterior and interior aesthetics were designed by Pininfarina, embracing the future of sailing while simultaneously respecting and reinterpreting the classic elements that make Elan’s Slovenian-built boats so recognisable.
The boat’s design is by Humphreys Yacht Design, whose team is choosing a deeper standard draft and a lighter build. The rig will be taller and the sail area increased, resulting in a higher sail area to displacement ratio.
For this project the Elan composites team partnered with Gurit to produce composites with the best possible mechanical properties.
Details of this project will be revealed during the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021, while the yacht itself will be shown at Boot Dusseldorf in January 2022.
