Yanmar Marine International (YMI) has launched the E-Saildrive, its first electric propulsion product designed to provide an easy transition to emission-free sailing.

The E-Saildrive range utilises a ‘plug and play’ platform for easy installation and connection. Combined with an integrated gear, motor, motor controller, and cooling system, this makes the switch to 100% electric boating quicker and easier. The drive is a drop-in replacement for a Yanmar YM engine, so no hull modifications are needed.

A new control system with an IPX7 waterproof rated, bright and colorful 4.3-inch anti-fog TFT display is available with side mount or top mount control heads. With minimal maintenance and access to Yanmar’s global support network of 2,000 distributors and dealers in over 130 countries, E-Saildrive offers a green solution to new boaters and more experienced sailors alike.

Yanmar’s E-Saildrive is available in three models delivering up to 15kW of power for sailboats under 40ft (depending on application and displacement).
