First 44

With the warmer months on the horizon, 36 Degrees Brokers are excited for the arrival of the new First 44 Performance, set to make its New Zealand debut in March 2023.

Light and bright, with clean lines, space is accentuated by quality materials that give the yacht an overall feeling of comfort, while still retaining the simplicity of a cruiser/ racer.

With a starting price of $885,000, the First 44 is exciting to sail, whether used as a fast cruiser, a race boat, a day-sailor, or all three.

The First 44 is a new addition to the First line of cruiser/racers by Beneteau. This 44ft (13.4m) yacht is the link between the recently released First 36 and the First Yacht 53. Performance oriented, with quality equipment and fittings, and multiple rig options, the F44 will impress under sail. The powerful, well balanced hull, combined with a generous sail plan, promises to deliver satisfaction to anyone who loves the sensation of sailing.

The First 44 comes in two versions: the First 44 and First 44 Performance, to satisfying a variety of wants and needs. Both versions promise to be fun, fast and efficient to sail in all conditions.

THE NEW Excess 14 is a playful cruising catamaran with sleek lines.

This 14m catamaran is the product of a design process that is contemporary, looks outside the box, and makes no compromise on sailing performance or comfort.

Drawing on the ocean racing pedigree of VPLP design, this boat’s asymmetric hull shape cuts through the water with ease, minimising drag. The bridge deck clearance has been increased for better passage through the water and waves.

The innovation continues with the new layout options, unlike anything on the current market. It features Scandinavian-inspired styling by Nautia design with signature Beneteau Alpi wood finishing.

Whether living aboard, crossing oceans or sailing with the family, the Excess 14 has the ability, space and seaworthiness for safe passages.

A New Zealand first - the  Beneteau Oceanis 40.1 recently launched in Auckland Harbour. Following in the wake of her elder sister, the Oceanis 51.1, this new generation 40.1 offers unapparelled living space and superb performance for a yacht this size.

Her Kiwi owners opted for the First Line edition, with a deep-draught keel, taller mast and locally made North Sails for greater performance. The interior has a stunning light wood finish with a comfortable three-cabin layout and a C-shaped galley.

This award-winning model is a fantastic family-sized cruiser, with a wide tulip-shaped hull. All lines and halliards run neatly aft to the double helm stations, now located further aft, making single-handed sailing a breeze.

IT’S BEEN OVER A DECADE since Beneteau introduced its successful First range. Kiwi yachties will be interested to learn of First’s anticipated return, with the First 36 Racer/Cruiser.

These sporty boats are light, fast and comfortable – designed by sailors, for sailors.

Big names involved with the modern design of the First 36 include naval architect Seascapes Samuel Manuard, alongside Lorenzo Argento, designer of the First Yacht 53. Structural engineering is by Pure Design Team New Zealand, also recognised for its involvement with the TP 52, Ineos AC 75, and IMOCA 60 yachts .

With a wide and modern hull shape, this boat is designed to get on the plane in mid-range winds – perfect for both club racing and cruising with the family. Expected release is early 2022.

Beneteau Gran Turismo 41

An all-new Gran Turismo 41 is set to join Beneteau’s express cruiser line renewal, building on the legacy of the Gran Turismo 40, while taking her signature features a step further.

The new GT41 is a perfect combination of power and practicality, with a sporty and slender hull that is elegant and chic. Everything onboard has been designed to make life easy including the central helm position, full 360° visibility, practical layout and latest nav technology.

Upgrades to the model include a new cockpit layout with an outdoor galley and U-shaped aft dining area which converts to a sunpad. A renewed hardtop has an even greater opening window for better visibility, light and flow. The forward sun pad now offers easily reclining backs and a retractable canopy and courtesy lights.
